Membranes

Liquid and Sheet Applied Membranes

Keeping a structure watertight is of vital importance to maintain the durability of the building and keep overall maintenance costs down. The effects of unwanted moisture ingress can be detrimental to the structural systems of the building and may result in loss of amenity for occupants.

Fairview Solutions are accredited applicators of sheet and liquid applied membranes from balconies and decks, sub floor basements, internal wet areas and industrial chemical resistant membranes.

Remedial

Remedial and Hydrostatic/Negative Side Membrane Systems

Negative/Hydrostatic applications of membranes may be an option to protect against moisture ingress where a conventional ‘positive’ side application is not feasible due to access and availability constraints.

The application of negative side membranes can be a cost-effective solution for structures which have moisture ingress

Damp & Salt

Rising, Lateral & Falling Damp/Salt Remediation

Salt and Rising or Lateral damp is a common issue in structures where a damp-proof membrane may have degraded, is incorrectly installed allowing moisture to bridge the damp course and in some cases, where a DPC has not been installed at all. The results of damp can be blistering of painted surfaces, eroding of mortar joints and mould infestation which can result in structural damage and, in the case of mold infestation, can have negative health implications, especially in people who have respiratory illness.

Fairview Solutions are able to install a range of chemical and physical damp courses to minimise rising damp and the destructive results of this phenomenon and can remediate the surrounding areas including render, paint and brickwork repairs.

Captive Head Technology

Desalination of Salts

Crystallisation of salts is a major cause of damage to heritage, stone and masonry structures. Using a captive head technology system, it is proven to reduce the salt content in masonry to a depth of up to 150mm. With the captive head technology, a water wash dissolves and draws out salt from your surface while the captive head captures the waste.

Unlike the traditional desalination poultice method, the process is much quicker and results are instantly measurable – with no mess and no increase to the water load in the substrate. With a portable conductivity meter, we can read the salt content of the captured water immediately and there is no obstruction to other works on the surface or work site.

Results are comparable, if not better, to a poultice application for desalination.

Protection

Façade Treatments

Water ingress and contamination are unfortunate issues, common in most buildings. The choice of the correct protective coating or treatment to adequately protect the structure against ingress and contamination is of vital importance for the service life and durability of the structure.

Fairview Solutions can assist with façade treatment requirements, which allow for fast return to service and durable, long-lasting solutions.
